Competitions
Updated Oct 16, 2026 Open the tool
Competitions are promotional prize pools run on zoov.dev. Subscribers and credit buyers earn entries automatically; prize draws also have a free entry form. Every competition lives in the workspace at /app/comp (?c={slug} for a named run). The old public pages /competition/{slug} are retired and redirect (308) to /app/comp; the free entry form for a run that is no longer open redirects to the list of open draws. Competitions are governed by the Competition Terms at /policy/competition-terms.
Two competition modes
Every competition is either a prize draw or a judged contest, stated on its page. Only one competition is open at a time.
- Prize draw (random_draw). Holding entries is the entry. Nothing is written. Every entry held when the entry period ends is one chance in an entry-weighted random draw. The page says "In the draw. Nothing else to do." A free entry method is always available ("No purchase necessary").
- Judged contest (judged). A contest of skill. An active paid personal subscription that is not set to cancel is required, both when writing and when winners are picked. Team seats and Discord roles alone do not qualify. Each entry a person holds is one written submission slot, scored on its own against published criteria. More entries never improve a score; they only add another answer. No free entry.
How entries are earned
Entries arrive automatically from payments while a competition is open. Rates come from the competition's own table; the default is Standard 5, Pro 20, Max 50 per billing period (Plugin Pass 0). The page shows the live figures.
- New subscription: entries land when the first payment goes through, usually within a minute of checkout.
- Monthly renewal: each renewal payment during the run adds another batch. An existing monthly subscriber gets nothing until the next renewal ("with your next renewal payment, not before").
- Yearly plans (any period of 60 days or more): one batch when the competition opens, because that period is already paid and spans the run.
- Credit packages: bought while open, in every mode: 1,000 credits adds 10 entries, 3,000 adds 25, 8,000 adds 50. The 300 credit starter pack adds none.
- Plan set to cancel: cannot enter or win a judged contest. In a draw, granted entries stay; cancelling only stops future batches.
- Failed payment: nothing until the payment succeeds.
Grants are once per billing period and once per purchase, so a webhook retry never doubles them. When entries land the person gets a Discord DM linking to the page.
Entry cap
Every route counts toward one per-person cap.
- Prize draw: four best-tier billing periods. With the default table that is 4 x 50 = 200 entries. Renewals, packages and free claims all stop there.
- Judged contest: 10 entries, so 10 submission slots.
Payments beyond the cap add no entries: "You hold the maximum. Packages still add credits, just no more entries." For judged runs the page adds "Entries from packages cannot beat the cap of 10 per person, so nobody can buy the contest."
Free entry (no purchase necessary)
Prize draws have a free alternate method of entry, as the Competition Terms require. Judged contests do not. The route is: Competition Terms, then the list of open draws at /competition/free-entry, then the draw's form at /competition/{slug}/free-entry. Pages, emails and posts do not link the form directly; they say "For more information on how to enter, see the competition terms."
The rules as the terms and form state them:
- Log in first. "Winners are contacted through the email on their account, so an account is required for every method of entry."
- One free claim per person every 7 days.
- Each claim is worth what the best paid tier earns in one billing period (50 by default), "treated identically in the draw".
- The same per-person cap applies (200 by default), so a free entrant can reach the cap over a run of four weeks or more.
- The form asks for "Full legal name", "Country of residence", "State" or "Province", and "Date of birth", plus three confirmations: 18 or older, eligible region, and read the Competition Terms. A Turnstile captcha is checked. These are "the same details every winner must provide before a prize is paid".
- "Per person" means the natural person. The same legal name and date of birth may claim from one account only. A second account gets "A free entry has already been claimed under this name and date of birth from another account. One person, one set of entries."
- Too soon: "You claimed your free entry on {date}. The next one opens on {date}." At the cap: "You already hold the maximum of {cap} entries in this competition."
Success shows "Free entry claimed. {n} entries added to your account and already in the draw. You may claim again in 7 days." Free entries are recorded as free so a winner who entered that way is verified against what they declared.
Eligibility and excluded regions
From the Competition Terms: entrants must be natural persons at least 18 (or the age of majority where they live, if higher), hold a zoov.dev account in good standing with a reachable email, and be legally allowed to enter where they live.
Not eligible: Sponsor employees, contractors and staff; Discord moderators and staff; their immediate family or household.
Unless a competition says otherwise, residents of Quebec (Canada), Italy, Brazil, or any country under comprehensive sanctions cannot enter. The free entry form rejects country codes IT, BR, CU, IR, KP, SY and the province Quebec. Judged contests that require a subscription also exclude Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Maryland, Nebraska, North Dakota and Vermont (United States).
Every page carries the compliance line. Prize draws: "18+ only. No purchase necessary. For more information on how to enter, see the competition terms. Void where prohibited." Judged contests: "Active subscription required to enter. Judged on published criteria; chance plays no part. 18+ only. Void where prohibited."
Judged contests: writing an entry
On a judged page, "Your written entries" lists each submission as "Entry {n}, {words} words, submitted {date}" with "Edit" and remove buttons. The editor placeholder is "Your entry in {limit} words or fewer"; over the limit shows "Over the {limit}-word limit. Trim it down to submit."
Errors: "An active subscription is required to enter. Entries arrive the moment a plan payment goes through.", "Your subscription is set to cancel, so it cannot enter. Resume it from billing and try again.", "All {n} of your entries are used. Edit one, or a higher plan adds more."
"Improve with AI" and "Draft from my notes" offer rate-limited writing help; the terms say "the idea, claims and examples must be yours." Submissions can be edited or removed until the close. Judges score each entry out of 100; the feature-idea rubric is Usefulness 40%, Relevance 30%, Creativity 20%, Clarity 10%. One prize per person.
Winner draw, notification and verification
Prize draws are drawn programmatically after the close: one winner per prize slot, top prize first, weighted by entries, without replacement so nobody wins twice. Judged winners are recorded by staff from the scored submissions. In both modes the person must still be eligible when recorded.
Credit prizes are added to the winner's account immediately as permanent credits that never expire. Cash and product prizes are claimed by email: the winner receives "You won {prize} in the {title}. Action required" at the email on their account and must reply from that address within 14 days, or the prize is forfeited and an alternate may be drawn. The email says "We may need to verify your identity and eligibility before paying out, and you are responsible for any taxes on the prize."
Cash is paid in USD by a method the Sponsor picks (for example PayPal or bank transfer). Physical products ship to Australian addresses; winners elsewhere may be paid the retail value in cash. A winner who entered free is checked against the identity on the free entry form.
Since 2026-10-05 a winner also finds You won in the workspace bell, with the prize and the competition, beside the email (never for a staging rehearsal). The bell also announces a competition by itself: when it opens, on its last day to enter and when the winner is drawn. A written announcement can stand in for the opening one; the RTX 5070 Prize Draw has one ("Win an RTX 5070", with the GPU, a Terms link and its end on 31 October).
Anonymity and name opt-in
Winners are listed by an anonymous entrant code such as "Entrant 3F9A2C", derived from the account so it cannot be traced back. The page says "Winners are listed by an anonymous entrant code unless they choose to show a name." A winner may instead be shown by first name and last initial or by their community display name, and can withdraw that choice at any time by emailing admin@zoov.dev. The Sponsor never publishes a winner's email, full name or identity without agreement. Winner list requests go to admin@zoov.dev within 60 days of the draw.
Competition in the workspace (/app/comp)
The competition also opens inside the workspace at /app/comp. It shows the competition that is open right now; /app/comp?c={slug} shows a named one, including a closed or drawn run with its winners. With no competition open the page says "No competition open" with a "Back to workspace" button.
The page has three panels. On a phone one shows at a time, switched from the bar at the bottom ("Entries", "Prize", and "Details" or "Write").
- Entries (left): the competition title with a chip ("30 days left", "Closes today", "Closed", "Drawn", "Judged"), the dates ("Closes 31 Oct · Draw 3 Nov"), the entry count out of the cap with a bar, and one line on what lands next, for example "Next +20 · Pro renews 12 Oct · in 5 days", "Standard ends 12 Oct · no more batches" or "Cap reached · 200 per person". Under it, "Plans" lists Standard, Pro and Max with the entries each adds and a "Current", "Upgrade" or "Subscribe" state, and "Credit packs" lists the packs that add entries ("Builder · 1,500 credits · $24.99 · +10"). Pressing any of them opens the Plans dialog in the workspace, on the plan or on the credit packs. The button at the bottom reads "Get more entries", "Sign in to enter", "Cap reached" (disabled) or, for a judged contest with a plan set to cancel, "Resume plan" (billing). The legal line and a "Competition terms" link sit at the end; the free entry form is reached only through the terms, as on the public page.
- Prize (centre): a picture of the top prize with its name and value ("$850 value"), and the other prizes as chips ("5 × 500 credits").
- Details (right, prize draws): Prizes, How it works, and Winners. Winners shows "Drawn 3 Nov" while open, "Drawn · winners being contacted" after the draw, and then the entrant codes, with a "You" tag on your own.
In a judged contest the right panel is "Your entries" instead: each written entry as "Entry 1 · 84 words · 12 Sep" with "Edit" and "Remove" (press "Remove" twice to confirm), then the editor with the prompt, a live "84 / 100 words" count that turns red over the limit, "Improve" and "Draft from notes" (AI help, with "Undo"), and "Send to the judges" or "Save entry". When every slot is used it says "All 10 written". Prizes, How it works and Scoring sit under the list.
Common questions
I subscribed but have no entries. Why? An existing monthly plan earns entries at its next renewal, not before. If you just paid, wait a minute and refresh. A plan set to cancel cannot enter. Team seats and Discord roles alone earn nothing. Yearly subscribers who see nothing should email support@zoov.dev.
Where do I see my entries?
In the workspace at /app/comp, or on the competition's own page. Both show the same count and what lands next.
Do more entries improve my odds in a judged contest? No. Each entry is one more written answer, scored on its own.
How do I enter for free?
Prize draws only. Log in, open /competition/free-entry, choose the draw and fill in the form. One claim every 7 days, worth a best-tier billing period, under the same cap as paid entries.
Can I claim free entry from two accounts? No. The same legal name and date of birth can claim from one account only.
Does cancelling remove my entries? In a prize draw, entries already granted stay; you stop getting new batches. In a judged contest a plan set to cancel cannot enter or win until resumed.
How will I know if I won? By email to the address on your account. Cash and product winners must reply within 14 days. Credit prizes are added to the account straight away.
Who cannot enter? Under 18s, staff and their households, and residents of Quebec, Italy, Brazil and sanctioned countries. Judged contests also exclude Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Maryland, Nebraska, North Dakota and Vermont.
Languages
Since 2026-09-20 this part of the site is available in English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish and Dutch. It follows the browser's language on a first visit, and the language menu (the icon beside the profile in /app, or in the top navigation on public pages) changes it. Nothing about how it works, what it costs or what a plan includes differs by language; only the words do. File names, format names (GLB, YDR, YTD), product and model names, code, and some error lines that come from the server stay in English. Details and known gaps: Languages and translation.
