Referrals

Updated Oct 15, 2026 Open the tool

Every account has a referral link. A friend who signs up through it and then uses any tool earns the referrer 25 credits. The credits are temporary (they expire 45 days after they arrive) and are paid automatically; there is nothing to claim. The new account gets the normal 50-credit welcome bonus and nothing extra.

This is the second referral program (2026-10-01). The first (/referrals, 2026-05 to 2026-09) never attributed a sign-up; see "Why the first program never worked" below if someone asks about it.

/app/referrals, from the avatar menu ("Referrals"), the profile page's Referrals card, or Ctrl+K. The page shows:

  • Your link: https://zoov.dev/r/<code>, with Copy (and Share on a phone). The code is 8 random characters, made the first time the page is opened; it cannot be changed. Accounts that had a code in the old program keep it, so links they already shared still work.
  • One line under it: "25 credits per friend · paid when they use a tool".
  • Clicks: first visits through the link (a browser that already carries a referral cookie is not counted again). Joined: accounts created through it, with "N waiting" for those who have not used a tool yet. Rewarded: how many paid. Credits earned: the total.
  • People: one row per friend, newest first, with the date they joined and a status: Joined (signed up, nothing paid yet), Rewarded (+25), Not eligible (see below). Empty: "No one yet · Share your link".

How a referral counts

  1. The friend opens /r/<code> (or any page with ?ref=<code>). The site sets the zoov_ref cookie for 60 days and sends them to the front page (/r/<code>?to=/packs sends them to another page on the site). The first code a browser receives wins; a later link does not replace it.
  2. They sign in with Discord. If the account is brand new (the auth user under an hour old), it is written down as the referrer's and the cookie is removed. An existing account that clicks a link is never attributed, and the cookie is removed then too.
  3. The first time the new account spends credits on anything (a generation, a conversion, an export, an AI edit), the referrer is paid 25 temporary credits. The row turns Rewarded and the credits dialog shows "Referral reward".

A referral is not recorded when: the code does not exist, the person is referring themself, the account is not new, the account already has a referrer, the referrer is banned, or the program is switched off. Since 2026-10-06 it is also not recorded when the new account belongs to someone who deleted an earlier Zoov.dev account with the same Discord account or email (accounts-and-sign-in, "Deleting your account"): deleting and signing up again does not make a fresh referral. The cookie is removed all the same. Deleting an account also removes its own referral link, its referral rows and any rewards not yet spent.

A referral is recorded but reads Not eligible (and never pays) when the sign-up came from a browser or a network the referrer has signed in from, or that an earlier referral of theirs used. Two people in one household sharing an address will hit this; it is intended and support should not override it.

A referral stays Joined (pending) and does not pay yet when: the friend has not used a tool; the friend's Discord account is younger than 30 days (it pays on their next spend after the account turns 30 days); the referrer has already been paid 20 times in the last 24 hours (it pays on a later spend); or the referrer is banned at that moment. At 200 rewards ever, further rows are marked Not eligible.

Each reward also appears in the workspace bell as Referral reward, with the credits and the date they expire (since 2026-10-05). It is written by the database the moment the credits are granted, so it cannot be missed or doubled.

Common questions

Where is my referral link? /app/referrals, from your avatar menu. Copy the link; it is zoov.dev/r/ and your code.

My friend signed up but my page says nothing / says Joined. They must have opened your link in the same browser they signed in with, within 60 days, and the account must be new. "Joined" means they are counted; the credits arrive when they first use a tool.

It says Not eligible. The sign-up came from a browser or network you have used yourself, or one an earlier referral of yours used. Nothing to do; it will not pay.

Do referral credits expire? Yes, 45 days after they are paid, like other temporary credits (see the credits doc).

Can I change my code? No. Codes are random and fixed.

Is there a bonus for the new account? No, only the normal welcome credits.

What about the "Referral Code" box at checkout? Gone (2026-10-01). That was an older program that paid 10 percent of a purchase to a username; it has not paid anyone since January 2026.
